Chapter Two – Looking Back
Most of us are at a loss when it comes to talking about the God (S.W.T.) issue, simply because, we are normally unable to differentiate between what is fact and what is window dressing.
Traditional religions, and for that matter an endless number of re-interpretations have distorted the original stories to such a degree, that today it is truly difficult to make some sense out of the whole issue.
A few months ago I was having a conversation with my mother about this very subject when my grandmother walked into the room, overheard what we were talking about and intervened saying “of course God (S.W.T.) does exist, we even know what He looks like, here let me show you”. She went down to her apartment and came back holding a large illustration of Jesus Christ, near the bottom was an inscription, “Our Lord and Savior”.
Just like my grandmother who I love very much, most westerners today have a hard time differentiating between God (S.W.T.) and Jesus Christ. They simply believe that they are one and the same. You may think that’s impossible, but ask a few people you know and you’ll discover that at least two out of four will tell you that Jesus and God (S.W.T.) are one and the same.
In taking such a simplistic approach, we of course miss the larger picture by a long shot. In human terms, Jesus Christ was simply a “Messenger”. With a lot of knowledge, a big heart, and a “job” to do.
If we want to take it one step further, the absolute truth is that we really do not know if Jesus even existed. We have stories, and more stories that tell us he did, but although disappointing the harsh reality is, we do not have a single shred of concrete evidence that he did actually exist.
The “God (S.W.T.) concept” is – and always was even before Jesus Himself showed up, An attempt to understand the Universe”
Hundreds upon hundreds of “Creator” interpretations have come and gone. Of course, you could always say that God (S.W.T.) is the Universe, and I would agree, but unfortunately, we cannot simply call the Universe God (S.W.T.) – because of two reasons. First, God (S.W.T.) is much, much more than just the Universe. Second, the name God (S.W.T.) invokes and implies so many different interpretations for so many different people – which have nothing to do with what the Universe or God (S.W.T.) really are.
I am not a scientist or a theologian. If you think however that only those who have degrees or diplomas are supposed to understand certain issues, think again. The only “papers” you really need are: an open mind, a caring heart, and a lot of courage.
Everyone knows who Albert Einstein was of course. To date Einstein is still considered the greatest mind that ever lived. He contributed greatly to the advancement of science. Sure he went on obtaining various degrees and diplomas along the way, but let me ask you a simple question, did Albert Einstein make the discoveries because of his degrees, or simply because of “who” he was – with or without degrees?
In reality, the opposite is often true. Einstein, Tesla, Ford, Edison, Marconi, DaVinci, Galileo, Pythagoras and Newton just to name a few, made the most groundbreaking discoveries simply because of who they were regardless of degrees and diplomas. The rest of the scientific community (most anyway), the ones who compete with each other to see who can get the most diplomas and degrees on their office walls, are the ones whose job seems to be to put the “brakes” on the aforementioned geniuses discoveries.
I actually think this is so by “design” – think about it. Geniuses make the initial discoveries, left to their own devices however, these discoveries would manifest way too prematurely, un-tested and possibly unsafe.
It takes a certain kind of individual to be a genius. These luminaries are usually folks who act on pure gut-feeling, impetus, they do not think twice, they get an idea and they immediately build on it. They usually do most of their work at night, they almost never sleep. They are usually alienated by the general public. They’re so unusually intelligent that people think they are crazy. They rarely associate with others. They like to constantly push the envelope.
The rest of the scientific community (the ones with the papers), will try to discredit, slow-down any new discovery that has not been “proven” yet. Better still, they will simply label it “if we cannot see and touch it in a lab, it cannot exist”. This approach invariably forces the geniuses to re-design and re-invent their own inventions, so that the rest of the community can also understand them. This results in a much safer and proven end product.
I find it amusing that the scientific community has not yet learned, that what they say “cannot exist” today, may actually be proven tomorrow.
Now, before we proceed any further, I would like to point out, that I am not the “driving force” behind this work. Let me explain.
Although there is no way for me to know where you stand on these issues, I would like to think, that because of the very fact that you are reading a book of this “category,” there is a pretty good chance that you are a somewhat “open minded” individual.
Based on that assumption, I would like to share with you, that for many years I received “assistance” from an “outside force”. A Spirit, an Entity, a “Guide”, Personality or whatever you prefer calling him.
Furthermore, on a more “earthly” note, the vast majority of the information contained in this book is the result of countless hours of mind breaking research, investigation and material comparison, countless hours in group discussions and so on. Basically, Seth (the spirit guide) would give me some key information, or he would put together a scenario to illustrate an event, then, I would have to find the relevant information to validate it or build upon it.
Although I feel he is more or less constantly present or connected to me somehow, Seth normally communicates to me in my “Out of Body” Dream Sessions.
I am well aware of the fact, that even today most of our scientists still consider “dreams” to be “non-factual.” But that does not mean that it is so. It simply means that we still don’t fully understand the true nature of our dreams. Not a single scientist on the planet to date can give us a definite answer about what dreams really are or even why we dream in the first place.
Now, this “connection”, with Seth went on for about seven years. But first, I shall try to describe what Seth looks like.
He is an older man about 65 to 70 years of age, he is about five and a half feet tall, although it is a little difficult for me to tell his actual height, because he’s always “floating” about one foot from the ground.
He is semi-transparent, though I can clearly see him, I can also see right through him.
A little chubby and almost completely bald. He usually dresses very plainly, he wears a pair of beige pants and a red and white checkered “loggers” style shirt.
He is quite a character, good humored, but to the point. Very concise, each word he speaks has the meaning of a thousand books. And frankly, I cannot keep up with him, he is always one (or several) steps ahead of me.
And, let me tell you, he does not take “NO” for an answer. He is pure “Experience and Knowledge”. He can see through me, read my mind, know what I am going to say before I say it.
Sometimes, he puts together “scenarios”, that when later analyzed, contain clues and answers to multiple questions, resolving not one, but two or three questions at one time. In most cases he appears to me as a “Teacher” in a classroom, with desks and a blackboard on which he writes the information – complete with illustrations. This perhaps in an attempt to make sure I fully understand the topic.
In some of the encounters, Seth appeared to me as a “tour guide”. I can “see” myself (in the dream), being shown whatever scenario he had prepared, while hearing his voice coming from my side, describing the scene. Like those times for instance, when I was shown a few of my former Re-Incarnations.
As some of you may remember, Seth was the driving force behind several books written back in the seventies by Jane Roberts and her husband Mr. Robert Butts. Seth channeled the material through Jane in a trance state, while her husband Robert took notes. Together, they wrote a huge amount of information. Jane passed away back in the late seventies while her husband Robert died a few years ago.
The peculiar thing is, that Jane has also appeared to me together with Seth, in at least two of the encounters.
In their present environment, Seth refers to Jane as his wife “Ruburt”. As some of you may already know from the “Seth books Series”, Jane was a very dear friend of Seth’s in a previous life. In that life Jane was a man named Ruburt.
Jane spoke to me quite extensively in one of our encounters. And one thing she repeated to me at least three times while starring straight in to my eyes, was to “MAKE SURE I WOULD MAKE THIS INFORMATION AVAILABLE TO PEOPLE.”
Now, to be quite honest, at first I was not too sure of what was happening. Only a few months earlier, I resisted any material having anything to do with ghosts, spirits, etc. I remember it like it was yesterday, when my sister asked for my opinion on some “ghosts stories” some friends and her were talking about. My answer was something along the lines of “It is not that I do not believe that something is out there. But, since I am not planning to get involved with this subject anytime soon, I believe it is best for me not to be concerned with the subject at all, I considered it to be a waste of my time, literally.
Little did I know, that not only was I shortly afterwards going to embark on the research and exploration of the so called “spirit world”, but I would become the one who now asks others to talk about the subject.
Up to that point in time, I had always been interested in what I considered more “earthly sciences”, History, Geography were some of my favorites. When it came to ghosts, spirits and the like, I was convinced that they were nothing more than a figment of our imagination. That suspicion, was reinforced even more, when I started having the very first “dreams”.
I was sure that these were triggered as a result of reading Seth Speaks. I was sure my brain was simply fabricating these dreams as a result of reading the book. As these dreams became more and more frequent and elaborate however, I had to accept the fact that these so called “dreams”, may not have been dreams of the conventional type after all.
I am fully aware that some of the readers will find all of this hard to believe, but please keep in mind that up to a short time ago I did not believe it either, until it happened to me.
I fully understand and I agree that it is an uncommon thing to have a “spirit” talk to you in your dreams and I would not be surprised at all if you found it hard to believe, I would probably do the same. The fact remains, that what I am saying is nothing but the truth. I am simply sharing what I have been shown, told and have learned as a result of the whole experience, no more no less.
Several years back for my own peace of mind, in an attempt to validate this material , I decided to contact Mr. Robert Butts (Jane’s husband) himself and ask for his opinion on the matter.
I was well aware of the fact that I was taking a huge chance by talking to Mr. Butts about this issue. After all, I was also talking about his wife Jane who had passed away. I did not know how he would receive it. The thing that worried me the most was that I did not know if he was still involved with the Seth Material. I did not want to upset or sadden him in any way, but on the other hand I really felt that I had no choice.
I had to know the truth. And he was the only person that could tell me whether or not these two entities were really who they claimed to be: Seth and his wife Ruburt (Jane).
After some research, I finally managed to get Mr. Butts’ address. I sent him a long letter, describing my experience in as much detail as possible. I also sent him detailed drawings that I had made after each dream/encounter. His wife Jane was portrayed in at least two of them.
I drew Jane as close as I could remember her, the way she appeared to be then at age 60-65. I gave Mr. Butts as many details about her as possible. Her appearance, the way she dressed, the way she moved and talked. I put all of that material in a large envelope and sent it to him.
For those of you who wish to read the letter, what follows is a verbatim transcript:
Dear Mr. Butts,
I would like to express my gratitude to you for taking the time to read my letter. I sincerely hope this letter finds you of excellent health. I am not sure if you today Sir, are still involved with the whole “Seth experience” in any way, therefore I have no way of knowing how you will receive the information I am about to share with you. Please believe me when I say that it is not my intention to sadden or upset you in any way, I am hoping instead, that you will see this information in a positive light.
About two years ago, when I owned my auto repair shop, a customer gave me one of the books that you and your wife Jane wrote, Seth Speaks as a gift. As I started reading the book, I felt the strange sensation of somehow “belonging” in it. This is somewhat difficult to explain, but it felt almost like the sentences in the book were “preparing” me for something bigger.
Shortly thereafter, I had my very first “encounter” with Seth, he appeared to me in a dream (see drawing #1) as he has done several times since.
At first, I was skeptical and unsure about the authenticity of these “encounters”. I thought these dreams were manufactured by my own mind as a result of reading the book. But, as they became more frequent and meaningful, I realized that something very significant was taking place. Seth was not only answering many of my own personal questions, but he was also sharing information of a seemingly “scientific” nature, complete with formulas, square roots, geometrical shapes just to name a few.
This still goes on today, as a matter of fact, I had an encounter with Seth just last night. These dreams appear to me as “lessons”. Most take place in an actual classroom complete with blackboard and benches where Seth is the teacher and I am the student. I always “see” the whole scenario from behind, meaning that I am not only part of the scene, but also a spectator of the scene. Just like watching a movie where you are one of the actors.
Seth appears to be semi-transparent, I can see through him, but strangely enough he appears in color, I can see the color of his clothes etc. (strange because every other transparent thing he has shown me thus far has been colorless). Seth appears to be about 65 to 70 years of age, he does not walk but he floats about a foot off the ground instead.
Now, one thing I have noticed lately, is that ever since these so called “lessons” started, I am no longer having dreams of the regular kind, or somehow I cannot recall a single one of them. I’ve also noticed that in the few hours preceding the dream, I experience a sense of relaxation and peacefulness, but at the same time a sense of energy and excitement, suggesting that I am somehow being readied for the encounter.
The “lessons” are very concise and to the point, most interestingly they often carry messages that answer more than one question at a time, suggesting that not only must it be difficult for Seth to establish a link, but also maintain it between the two realities.
While I have made sketches of some of the dreams, they for some reason remain impressed in my mind in their entirety. I very clearly remember every word and every detail in them.
I feel obliged to inform you Sir, (with uneasiness I must confess) that your wife Jane has participated in at least two of the “encounters”. Seth calls her Ruburt, and he has introduced her to me as his wife – there.
Mrs. Roberts appeared to be about 65 years old, long black hair, dressed completely in black, she is of medium-smaller build and very thin. In the very first encounter, she appeared only in a symbolic way – sort of an introduction, but in another instance Mrs. Roberts played a major role in the dream. And, since this was the only time that I had the opportunity to talk directly to her, with your permission, I would like to share the dream with you in full detail.
The dream starts with me driving my red sports car on a highway in Italy (my native country). Strangely, all of the road signs are in English. I needed gasoline, I pulled into the first gas station on my right.
As I approached the facility, I noticed that the gas station was very old, 1920′s style. It did not “belong” with the high-tech highway I had just exited from. Nevertheless, I stopped at one of the gas pumps and asked the gas attendant to fill my tank up. As he started filling the tank, I got out of the car and stood leaning on the side of the car as I usually do while waiting.
All of a sudden I heard what appeared to be two female voices coming from my left, I turned toward the voices but I only saw one woman walking toward us. By the way she started conversing with the gas attendant I realized she was related to him, his wife perhaps.
She stood to my left, he is to my right. I am in the middle of the two as they converse back and forth for about a minute, when I heard a third voice (female) participating in the conversation. Perplexed, I looked but could not see where the third voice was coming from. Intrigued, I looked around with curiosity, and much to my surprise I saw a “light form” hovering about four feet from the ground above and to the left of Mrs. Robert’s shoulder, from which the voice was emanating.
It was a very strange sight indeed. Oval in shape but with no defined edges, about one foot in width by two feet in height but flat like a sheet, with no dept.
It was of a milky transparency, and it had a bright shimmering look to it similar to what you would see travelling on a highway on a very hot summer day when the heat rises from the asphalt. It honestly startled me.
Noticing my uneasiness, the gas attendant reassured me saying that “the light” was his wife’s friend. Then, he politely introduced me to his wife who he called Ruburt. I turned toward her and shook her hand. As she raised her eyes to look at me in the face, she jumped back in surprise saying loudly: “Oh my God”.
She was still holding my hand tight, and she again exclaimed this time louder: “Oh my God!!” I did not know what she had seen, and I frankly though she was missing a screw upstairs, but since she would not let go of my hand, and a bit curious – I asked what she meant.
She came very close to me, almost as if she was giving me an eye exam. Her eyes were penetrating – of an incredible intensity, I felt like she was piercing my eyes and reading my mind through them. I felt like I could hide nothing from her.
While starring straight into my eyes, she said: “My God, you have the Universe in your eyes – I can see the whole Universe in your eyes!”
This time I really thought she was going berserk, but out of curiosity I asked what she meant. “Come, come with me” she replied pulling my arm pointing toward a small house on the premises.
Everything was happening so fast, that I could not understand what was going on. As I looked at her husband, he reassured me with a smile saying: “It’s ok, don’t worry, go with her while I take care of your car”.
Before I knew it we were inside the small house, all three of us – me, Jane and Mrs. “light thing”. The small room was filled with scientific material. Stacks of books everywhere, a table with several chemists tools on it. Then Jane put a chair in the middle of the room and asked me to sit down.
I asked for an explanation. I wanted to know what was happening and most importantly what she intended to do. She reassured me, with a very sweet and calm voice this time. She said that she wanted to do a small experiment with me.
“What?” I said almost in anger, “Listen lady, who do you think I am. You pulled me in here without an explanation and now you want to do an experiment with me? I don’t even know you, tell me what this is right now or I will walk out of here right this instant”.
She smiled and reassured me that I had nothing to fear. She said that she was not even going to touch me. Politely she asked me to please sit down again. I don’t know why, but I felt that I could trust her. While very “unusual” and eccentric, she at the same time appeared to be extremely knowledgeable and trustworthy. I complied.
She asked me to cross my arms. She explained that she was going to put what she called “mental handcuffs” on me. She reassured me that it was not going to hurt at all.
So I did. I sat down and crossed my arms in front of my chest, she stood about three feet in front of me, looking down toward my arms.
She tilted her head down slightly once, just like she was sending some mental message toward my arms, then she asked: “Can you move your arms?” Of course, I replied pulling my arms apart.
She wanted to try again. This time she explained, she was going to try at twice the power. I crossed my arms again, and again she did the same thing as before, except that this time she nodded her head twice. “Can you move your arms now?” She asked. Of course, no problem I said, again pulling my arms open without feeling anything.
OK she said, “I am going to try one last time”. This time I will use all of my power, but I am afraid I already know what the outcome will be”.
We tried again. This time she nodded her head three times, then she asked me if I could open my arms now. This time it felt as if a very light resistance – like a weak rubber band was wrapped around my arms. As I tried a little harder to open my arms however, the “resistance” simply vanished.
I got up as she stood right in front of me. Her hands on each side of my arms, and while looking up straight into my eyes she said: “Listen to me Mark, and listen to me good. You have the Universe in your eyes”. I asked her to please be more specific. “What do you mean exactly the Universe in my eyes, what do you see in my eyes?”
The tone of her voice changed, she sounded very serious this time, as she replied: “I see everything in your eyes. You possess an amount of knowledge not even you are aware of. Just make sure it does not go to waste. Put it to good use, people need to know what you have to tell them. Just remember, nothing can stop you. I applied my full power on you, and not even I was able to stop you”.
She paused for a few seconds, then she said again “Remember Mark, nothing can stop you”.
I did not ask her any more questions, somehow, I instinctively knew what she meant.
I walked out of the house toward my car, the gas attendant was waiting for me, as he handed me my keys smiling I recognized him, Seth.

Mr. Butts had not got upset, and he had acknowledged that the Jane/Ruburt who had appeared and talked to me in these encounters, was indeed his wife.
Not only had he approved of everything I sent him, but he also gave me his support and blessings in pursuing my objectives. For which I still thank him immensely today.
Below is a verbatim copy of Mr. Butts’ letter to me:
March 2/94
Dear Mark:
Re your most remarkable dreams, to me the most remarkable of all is the long one involving drawings 2+3. “The Universe in your eyes”, etc.
You seem to dream about Jane, Seth, + ruburt more than I do, + and very vividly. Your drawings add a lot, too, quite unique in their individual ways. To me they translate into paintings.
I wish I had the time to go into details about your dreams, ideas, etc, but sadly I don’t- I’m always struggling to keep up with the mail, which seldom eases up, so I do the best I can, I hope that my efforts at least acknowledge the caring efforts others send me.
I wish you the very best. Yes, I’m still involved with Jane’s work, but here again I have to be careful about what commitments I make, least I promise more than I can deliver. This involves some hard choices! I’m enclosing the notices I usually send to those who write – if you’ve seen any of them before, please pass them along, or use the circular file.
Once again – your dreams + insights are remarkable – this is something I don’t tell others so strongly, usually. Seems to me that you’ll have a great life exploring what you already know!!

Now, Seth uses several very effective ways of communicating material “down” to me.
He sends messages through books, television etc. I could be researching a specific subject for instance; there would be two or three consecutive days where I constantly run into information about that subject. I would be scanning through TV channels for instance and a documentary would be airing about that specific subject. I could be going to a book store browsing through the book isles and a book would fall on its side for no reason at all, begging to be picked up.
Or it will simply just stand out from a bunch of books, either color wise or some other unique feature. Invariably, as I open the book Seth’s name pops out like magic as either the author’s first name, a contributor or a reference.
Coincidences? To some maybe. But, I see far too many “coincidences” to be just that, everywhere I look.
Now, these “dreams” are “different” from all other dreams. Not only because they almost all take place in a classroom, but also because they each pick up where the previous one left, they continue – just like a TV series. They are what Seth calls “teaching sessions”. As such they are very concise and to the point, no warm-up, no cool-down afterward, just falling asleep – and down to business.
One peculiar thing I should point out however, is that about one hour before these sessions begin, I start feeling as if I am getting readied for them. An extremely clear mind, a sense of relaxation, but very excited – almost euphoric at the same time.
The fact that these messages are so concise and to the point, suggests that it must be difficult not only to “link” the two realities (my dream reality, and Seth’s) but also to maintain that link for long periods of time.
Later in the book, I shall describe some of these “dreams”, the most meaningful ones perhaps, for now – first things first.
Now, a few pages back, we touched on the subject of “religion”. Let’s look at this subject a little further, as this information is in fact essential before any attempt to understand our possible future directions is made.
If we wish to explore where we are going, we first need to understand “where” we are now. In order to understand where we are now, we need to know “how” we got here – where we came from.
It would be next to impossible to explore any possible future scenario without first knowing our present standpoint. We operate based on a certain set of beliefs. Therefore, the first thing we must do, is to come to understand how did we form this present set of beliefs in the first place, and where did these beliefs come from.
I would like to emphasize, at the risk of repeating myself, that it is of paramount importance, that we understand not only why we “need” religions, but also from where and from what did they originate.
It is not my intention to discredit any religion nor imply that one person’s religion is better that another. Each person chooses his or her religion based mostly on cultural and geographic factors. Religions are and have always been absolutely necessary throughout our history, they attempt to explain and understand what we cannot explain or understand.
The downside, is not religion itself, but those un-scrupled self proclaimed representatives of God (S.W.T.) who use people’s ignorance to inflate their own bank accounts using religion as a vehicle.
Now, you will probably agree with me, that not very many folks out there spend a lot of mental energy trying to answer so called “higher” questions. There aren’t a lot of people for example wondering “why” would it be that each one of us chooses to believe in a particular religion and/or God (S.W.T.) while the next person who might be living next door to us chooses to believe in something totally different.
Even more puzzling, is the fact that each one of us is convinced that the one God (S.W.T.) or religion WE have decided to believe in must be the “real” one, while all others must therefore be all wrong. We even go as far as thinking and convincing ourselves that we are the “chosen” ones, the ones who will be saved while all others will be incinerated in a fiery sea. Is it just me, or do you also find this a bit peculiar? Allow me to make a case in point.
If I were to ask you what the greatest country in the world is, what would your reply be? What if I were to ask you what is the best breed of dog, what would your reply be? Isn’t it true that we each think that “our” particular country or dog is the greatest – period?
And, that is the way it should be, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. We each tend to recognize and believe in “what-we-know” as the most accurate. We are each accustomed to what is familiar to us, the way we grew up. We were raised knowing our surroundings, we were raised by parents who did their very best to teach us what they believed was right. Therefore, it should be no surprise if we feel most comfortable subscribing to a set of beliefs of another.
The thing I find most peculiar however is not the fact that we’re convinced that what we personally believe to be true – is true, but the fact that each one of us thinks that everybody else’s beliefs are wrong. Think about that for a moment.
Question. Ten men in a room, each thinking he’s the only sane person in the room while all others are crazy. How many crazy people in the room? Think about that for a second.
So, most of us go on with our daily lives, never really thinking about it, we feel safe in the thought that we are on the right track, “God (S.W.T.) have mercy on all others” we think, for as long as we keep my beliefs in check, say the occasional prayer and give a little money to charity once in a while – we have nothing to worry about.
Most don’t even venture that far, some because we don’t have the time, some because we think it is too “deep” or too sacrilegious to worry about it much less question it.
We are afraid of ridicule. We are afraid of appearing different or “strange” in the eyes of our peers. Perhaps they will laugh at us, or they won’t want to talk to us anymore. We would be alienated. It is much safer to stick to more mundane subjects, things like “what am I going to wear today” or, “did you see that girl’s hair”… and so on.
Then, there is an even bigger problem. “Fear of God (S.W.T.)”. What if (we think) we start asking questions and discover something along the way that we are not supposed to discover. What if we get in too deep. What would God (S.W.T.) to us? Anyone who’s read the Bible has seen how violent and destructive He can become when someone disobeys Him.
Out of curiosity, I did a bit of research on the internet. It turns out that several websites have actually taken the time to add up all the killings attributed to God (S.W.T.) in the Bible. In total, they amount to 2,476,633. That is almost two and a half million, and that does not include en-mass killings like the great flood, the Sodom and Gomorra episode, etc. If we were to include those, these websites estimate, it would amount to a figure close to 25 million killings.
And so we keep going with our daily lives, our jobs, our problems and our joys. And while there is no doubt that we all carry these questions somewhere in our minds, we just keep them there , unanswered, most of us do anyway.
Thanks, but no thanks. Believe me when I say that I had to go through that very same struggle. On one hand I wanted to know, while on the other (because of past root assumptions) I was scared to death.
One “quality” of mine (which could be viewed as a virtue or a curse), is that I cannot live with unfinished business. Above all, I cannot stand having to say “yes” when I have not received a full explanation and I have not fully understood the matter at hand.
I literally detest it, when someone says “this is the way it is.” Or “we are not supposed to know”. Or, “we are not supposed to ask any questions.”
The same happened a few decades back, when the time came for me to decide what was I going to do with those unanswered questions that bombarded my brain back then.
I was able to put them aside for a while, distracting myself – keeping my mind occupied with other more mundane issues. I could not do that for more than a few days at a time however – questions bombarded my brain, constantly. I tried very hard not to let it interfere with my business at the time, but I could not stay away from the subject, constantly taking material to work. My office desk covered with books and magazines on paranormal and unexplained “curiosities”.
I struggled with this issue for a couple of years until, I finally realized that I had to face reality. I made the decision to pursue what my heart was telling me to. As if Seth heard me, almost immediately someone offered to buy my business. Believe me it is not an everyday thing for someone to come to you and offers to buy an automotive repair business for cash. My family was completely against the idea, as you can understand, it was not an easy thing to do. We tend to get comfortable with the status-quo and our monthly income, it is not easy to just throw it all away and pursue what they perceived as a “hobby” – especially a hobby that is usually not even taken seriously by most folks. I had no choice, if I wanted to have peace of mind.
Now, I am not by any means implying that because I took the steps and did the research and was fortunate enough to have a so called spirit guide “guiding” me in the process, I am as a result in possession of the “ultimate answer”. That is something no one will ever be able to say. Let me assure you however, that I have been given and shown information that brings me perhaps a little closer to understanding this Universe of ours, or as Seth calls it “All There Is”. If nothing else, just being able to enjoy the “scenery” I had the pleasure of experiencing along the way, it was more than worth it’s while.
I was fully aware of the fact that I was getting into unmapped territory. And, as far as I was being told, I should have left that material alone, because no one can predict what happens, when you start tempering with this type of material.
I recall a few years back when I first started asking some of the more involving questions having a pretty profound discussion with a friend of mine (profound for him anyway). We chatted back and forth exchanging views for over an hour, finally – not being able to change my mind on the matter, in other words make me agree with his Jehovah Witness point of view, he said quote: “Ok Mark, what you are saying is quite valid, and it makes a lot of sense, but, why would you want to take any chances? We humans are not supposed to know this kind of stuff. I am not saying positively that “He will” he said, but what if God (S.W.T.) gets angry with you. Aren’t you afraid of what he might do to you?”
Now, the more people were giving me this kind of “Put-Your-Head-In-The-Sand-And-Don’t-Ask-Any-Questions” nonsense, the more I was convinced that the opposite was actually true. Why you ask? Simply because it couldn’t possibly be that way.
You cannot have a Creator create something out of love to then watch it suffer unspeakable pain.
In another instance, I had another long conversation with a member of the local Jehovah witness’s congregation. And pretty well the same as before happened, only worse.
He did all the talking. He only allowed me to say a few words here and there. He was so closed minded, that he would not even consider listening to anything I had to say, simply because it did not agree with the way he had interpreted the bible.
As soon as I attempted to say anything at all, he would pull out the bible and show me that I could not possibly be right because nowhere in his Bible was there any mention of what I had just said.
He continued reading verse upon verse about “dragons with seven heads and ten horns,” and an imminent “dooms day”- Armageddon, which for some reason they had to keep on moving it’s date forward over and over again.
When he realized that I was not at all impressed, he began talking to me in ancient English. He probably thought, that if he sounded somewhat ancient, he had a better chance of sounding more authentic, more “Biblical.”
At the time, I had just recently immigrated to Canada. I had to really strain myself in order to understand regular English, with ancient English – I didn’t stand a chance.
Being a polite person, and to be honest somewhat amused, I listened to everything he had to say, but what a headache. At the end of “his” discussion, realizing that he was not going to have a new convert under his belt, as a last attempt he pulled out a piece of paper on which he drew a small square with a little stick man inside.
Then he said, quote: “Look, I don’t seem to be getting through to you. This is the best way I know to show you what I am trying to tell you. “When God creates a man, he gives him a small space in which he is allowed to dwell in. That man however, is not supposed to venture out of his God-given-space, ever. Because if he does, he violates God’s will. As soon as that man decides to do things “his own way” and not God’s way, and ventures outside his God’s given space, he will automatically step into devil’s territory. Because in the Universe (he continued) whatever does not belong to God, automatically belongs to the devil”. End quote.
Now. What could I’ve possibly answered to such an explanation? This man had locked himself inside his God (S.W.T.) – given-little-square. Anything I could have said, would have been seen by him as from “outside” the square and therefore, from the devil. Their preachers warn them ahead of time that “others will try to sway them”, that “others will tell them otherwise; therefore they must stand their ground”. They are told that their true devotion is best shown when anyone tries to challenge their beliefs. The preachers even give them a list of all the possible questions and challenges they might be faced with. In a century of experiencing doors being closed in their faces, they must have heard just about any possible question, and they have come up with an answer therefore for any possible challenge.
It was a very good lesson that I learnt that day however. I had just been shown, how brainwashed and closed minded someone can become. What annoyed me the most however, was the fact that he did not come with the intention of having a man-to-man exchange of opinions, listening-to and respecting each other’s point of view so that we could learn from each other’s experience, he had come instead, with the sole intention to convert me.
The moment you agree (after stalking you for weeks) to have a chat with these people, mainly so that they stop coming around, they automatically think that you are in some kind of trouble, that you are a lost soul – they need to save you. They do not even consider listening to what you have to say, because they are the “chosen ones” (as they call themselves), what could they possibly learn from an “un-chosen” person?
They know it all, even worst; do you think they are trying to convert you for your own good? Think again.
If you haven’t guessed it yet, let me tell you the real reason they want to “save” you. You should know, that Jehovah witnesses believe that on judgment day God (S.W.T.) will choose from within the Jehovah witnesses populous (only from within them), exactly 144,000 witnesses. No more no less.
According to their doctrine, the chosen witnesses would supposedly be allowed to sit in the heavens beside God (S.W.T.), helping Him to govern the (new) world. A type of President and senate arrangement. All other Jehovah witnesses (the ones who did not get enough points to qualify), would instead be granted everlasting bliss and peace here on Earth.
Can you see what is going on here? They are not trying to convert you to help you, they want to convert you so that they can help themselves. As far as they are concerned, the more people each one of them converts, the more chances he or she has, to get in that 144,000 “cream de la cream” group. To them you are nothing more than a lottery ticket. The more they convert, the more chances to qualify they have.
What is going to happen to the rest of us you might ask? According to their teachings, after the “rapture” has taken place (an event where 144,000 Jehovah Witnesses will be lifted up to the heavens) all the other “unrighteous ones” (what they call the rest of us) will be instantly incinerated by a God (S.W.T.) who will come “like a thief in the night”.
Now, the more people I talked to and trying to make some sense out of all this, the more I realized that something was missing. The one single issue that kept me literally up a night, and that in my opinion proved there had to be more to the “story”, was specifically the “punishment” belief. In my mind at least, the notion that God (S.W.T.) would punish me, just for wanting to know Him, simply could not be accurate. I asked myself countless times, “why would God (S.W.T.) punish one of His children simply for wanting to talk to Him?”
Please keep in mind that at that point, I still believed in the God (S.W.T.) idea I was raised to believe in. At the same time, I reasoned that despite the fact that it may have appeared I was trying to disprove His existence, it was in fact the exact opposite. I simply wanted to prove God’s (S.W.T.) existence once and for all – I wanted to somehow scream to the world that God (S.W.T.) is there and finally put my own mind at peace in the process. So that I did not have to worry about it anymore.
I remember the actual words I used the very first time I attempted to talk to God (S.W.T.).
“Dear God (S.W.T.). Please forgive me for asking You this question, but I am simply trying to understand You. It is not that I don’t believe – but because of the many contradictions that exist, I have so many questions. What the Church is telling us does not make any sense. Not a week goes by that we hear in the news of another child being raped by a Roman Catholic Priest, how can that be allowed? This is why I ask You God (S.W.T.), to clarify things – please just give me a small sign. Show me that You do hear me. I want to spend the rest of my life helping my fellow man and serve You in any way I can”.
Some of you may say that I should have simply taken God’s (S.W.T.) existence for granted – without asking any questions. Think about this for a second. What we had here is a confused teenager, who’s asking God (S.W.T.) to give him some directions. Help him not to disprove Him but to prove His existence instead. What is wrong with that?
Why would He not intervene – and clear all that confusion once and for all? What teacher would tell his pupils “well kids, today I will not tell you what subject we are going to talk about – you will have to find it out on your own, or you can try and read my mind.”
What father would tell his child “You are forbidden from opening that door and I will not tell you why.” Let’s just stop and think for a moment. Why in Heaven, would God (S.W.T.) not want us to know Him?
So I started reading everything I could find on the subject. Anything that could help me to understand, to make things make sense. I must have watched over one hundred documentaries, historical movies, attended tens of seminars, participated in forums, group meetings, just to name a few. Anything and everything I could find on the subject of Creation, World Religions, supernatural and unexplained phenomena, people’s cultural and behavioral patterns, and of course, the bible, which I read three times. Always keeping an open mind.
What I soon came to realize however, was that nothing out of this enormous amount of material could even come close to shine a definite light on the subject. Mere speculations and personal interpretations, nothing more. In the end, although more aware of the many facets of the same subject, I felt I knew less now than when I started.
As a result, the drive to shine some light on this subject grew even larger. I did not yet know what I was going to find out, if anything. Reading the Bible, reinforced even more my initial suspicion that our church was not, knowingly or unknowingly, telling us the whole story.
I started to fine-tune into specific matters as far as what conventional wisdom was teaching us, that seemed not to make any sense whatsoever.
Specifically:
A) Why would the pope and all priests, bishops etc. ask the poor people attending the mass to donate the little money they have to supposedly “feed the poor” while they themselves live surrounded by gold, jewels, huge bank accounts, millions of acres in properties all over the world and investments worth billions of dollars? Just one of the pope’s rings – if sold could feed a whole village for a month. Does this make any sense to you?
B) Conventional wisdom teaches us that Jesus was a very simple, poor and humble man. He spread the good parable usually assembling folks in an open field, sitting on nothing more than a stone on the ground. If they are (as they claim) supposed to be his representatives, why do they need all of these possessions and luxuries to spread their own word. Does this make any sense to you?
C) Conventional wisdom teaches that God (S.W.T.) is a most benevolent and forgiving father. If that is the case, then, why would He want us to fear Him. Why would He do us any harm in the first place? Even further, if He has absolute power over everything and anything, why would He allow us to go astray in the first place. So that He can punish us later? Does this make any sense to you?
D) Conventional wisdom teaches us that God (S.W.T.) wants only good things for us – while the devil wants nothing more than to torment us every step of the way. God (S.W.T.), is of course the Master of all things, He created everything and he has absolute power over everything. Then I ask, why doesn’t He simply eliminate the devil? Why is He allowing the devil to cause us harm. Why does He allow the devil to even exist? Why is He allowing wars, earthquakes, diseases, and thousands of innocent children to die of starvation every day? Why does He in a car accident choose to save one child, but allow his little sister to die? Does this make any sense to you?
Could it all be because of the famous Adam and Eve and the “apple” incident?
We are told that we are paying the price because these two lovebirds decided to eat an apple they were told not to eat. I often ask myself what would we have to endure if they had eaten a lamb-chop or a salmon steak instead.
Are we to believe that God (S.W.T.) is so hateful, that he is making all of us, all those before us, and all those after us “pay” because of one apple? What did we have to do with them anyway – did we tell them to eat the apple in the first place? I sure did not.
What happened to that “All forgiving” God (S.W.T.)?
It is really amazing what people can be lead to believe. Truly incredible.
Now, before we leave the subject of Adam and Eve, allow me to remind you of a point that will at the very least make you wonder. This is one of these things that once you read it you will ask yourself “why did I not think of this before” – or maybe you have.
As it is common knowledge, the Bible tells us that Adam and his wife Eve, were the very first two people ever. You have probably also read before, that they had three sons. Specifically, Cain, Abel, and the less mentioned Seth (surprise).
According to the Bible, Cain killed his brother Able as he saw him to be God’s (S.W.T.) favorite shepherd, in other words he got jealous and murdered his brother in an act of revenge. The story continues that God (S.W.T.) sent Cain to wander in the desert alone forever and ever as a punishment. There is no mention of the third son (Seth) at this point other that later in the book, when all of a sudden Cain and Seth are found to be each leaders of their own respective tribes. Strange to say the least.
If you think that is strange, you haven’t heard the best part yet. If as stated Adam and Eve only had “sons” and no daughters, then where did the rest of us come from?
As you can see for yourself here, we’re at the beginning of Biblical civilization and we already have a huge problem – right at the very beginning. Recently, realizing the mistake, the Church attempted to “update” the Adam and Eve story and suggested that they probably also had daughters. When asked why there is no mention of them in Bible, they suggested that women were not that important back then and they did not think they were worth mentioning.
Well, if that is not a huge problem on its own, you haven’t seen anything yet. The fact remains that no matter how they try to spin this situation it just gets worse by the minute.
Specifically, if we were to accept that Adam and Eve had sons as well as daughters, this would imply they had intercourse between brothers and sisters. On the other hand If we choose to believe that they did not have daughters instead, this would imply that the boys had intercourse with their own mother. In other words, no matter how we look at it, we have “incest”- a deadly sin, right at the very get go. Interesting don’t you think?.
I was watching TV recently. Larry King was hosting a one hour long interview with one of the most (if not the most) well known preachers in the United States. It was a very interesting program where the man’s ignorance was clearly evident. Larry King, had prepared a list of questions. Virtually all of the answers however were not only very evasive but senseless, in some cases almost ridiculous.
Basically, he really did not have an answer for just about any of the questions. It was a whole hour of pretty well “God (S.W.T.) knows the reason”, God (S.W.T.) acts in unknown ways”, or “we might not always understand why God (S.W.T.) acts in certain ways”. Anything of a positive nature was attributed to God (S.W.T.) while needless to say, the devil got credit for anything of a “bad” nature.
Whenever a question was asked, where neither of the two extremes would satisfy, he would simply reply that there are things man is not meant to understand. How convenient.
Can you imagine being on trial, where you are the defendant, and every time you where asked anything you did not want to answer you would simply tell the Judge, “I am sorry you honor, but only God (S.W.T.) is supposed to know that.”
At one point Larry King asked him if he had an explanation for all the suffering that goes on in the world every day. He answered that because of the initial power struggle between God (S.W.T.) and Lucifer, and because of the original sin committed by Eve, God (S.W.T.) decided to give planet Earth to the Devil. Letting him (Lucifer) govern and rule over it for six thousand years. (That contract should mature around our year 2000). At which point, God (S.W.T.) would reclaim His creation. Getting rid of the devil together with all those who have fallen into temptation, once and for all.
He went on to say that because of this “evil government,” under which we have been for so long, anything or anyone born under such a system is automatically born a “sinner.” In other words, newborn babies are labeled “sinners,” even before they have taken their very first breath of air.
Now, I don’t know about you, but to me this kind of thinking is not only senseless but even worse – plain scary. Especially when the individual preaching this sort of doctrine has so much influence over so many other people, literally in the millions.
According to him, we are nothing more than a bunch of worthless, undeserving, sinners. Should there be any wonder if so many children grow up with such a low level of self-esteem and grim outlook of their future?
At the conclusion of the program as a final question, Larry asked the preacher “If you could have a talk with God (S.W.T.), what would you like to know from Him”?
The preacher replied that having the opportunity he would ask Him two questions.
1) Why does God (S.W.T.) have to wait six thousand years to get rid of the devil and end our suffering?
2) When God (S.W.T.) created us and our planet Earth, why did He go through the trouble of creating so many other stars, planets and Galaxies just for us – if we do not seem to need them?
I think, that explains it all.
The deeper and deeper I looked – trying to make some sense out of it, the more non-sense I found. I started to realize that it could not possibly be all there. Something had to be missing. I found unbelievable that we for so many centuries, have been satisfied with such a poor and ridiculous explanation in the quest to understand our origins and the origins of this Universe of ours.
It was clear to me, that the only way we could start to understand and make some sense out of all this, was to go back, and try to determine where a story such as this could have originated. What could have been the circumstances that prompted and disseminated such a set of impossible beliefs?
The Bible as we all know gives us its own version of “beginning,” which frankly I am not very impressed with. What about the other side, what about the scientific version of “beginning” I asked myself.
I decided then to investigate this other version of “beginning”, the version most widely accepted by most of our scientists. The so called Big-Bang theory.
What became immediately apparent upon researching this theory, was that it seemed to make somewhat more sense than it’s Biblical counterpart. Specifically, it offered many tangible – measurable pieces of evidence. It seemed to have most of the pieces of the puzzle. Most of all, this was no “magic”, concrete – touchable evidence, therefore something worthwhile exploring.
It soon became evident however that even with all of its valid points, it too fell short of answering some very fundamental questions.
Now, before we proceed and analyze Big-Bang’s shortcomings, let’s first try and clarify what the Big-Bang theory implies in the first place. Basically, if we were to try and make an enormously complicated theory understandable by the rest of us – the theory states that all matter in the Universe, with all the Galaxies, Planets, Stars and so on – in other words all celestial bodies, together with space itself (the empty space between the celestial bodies) all came from a single super compressed “spec of matter” commonly referred to as “the primordial grain of sand”. The scientists argue that this so called “super compressed grain of sand” eventually exploded (for reasons we do not know of) creating the whole Universe in the process.
This justifiable explanation is adopted mostly due to the fact that when we look up into space with our telescopes (therefore back in time) all celestial bodies appear to travel “away” from each other. That being the case (or so it appears to be) we can only arrive at the conclusion that if two given “rocks” appear to travel away from each other – they must have been together or perhaps one at one point in time.
It seems to make a lot of sense doesn’t it? Yes, if it wasn’t for the fact that it fails to explain several fundamental questions which almost stop the theory dead in its tracks.
This is the equivalent of saying: “well, I found this house foundation on this parcel of land – I am going to build my home on it. I don’t know what or who made the foundation – I’m only going to worry about the first floor and above”.
The following, are a few of the issues the Big-Bang theory cannot possibly satisfy.
1) IF WE WANT TO BELIEVE THAT EVERYTHING CAME FROM A SUPER-COMPRESSED “GRAIN OF SAND” THAT EXPLODED INTO THE BIG-BANG CREATING EVERYTHING – INCLUDING SPACE ITSELF, THEN, “WHERE” WAS THE SUPER-COMPRESSED GRAIN OF SAND “BEFORE”, WHEN SPACE “DID NOT” YET EXIST?
In simpler terms: If all of the “space” around us was created as a result of the big-bang, after the explosion. Then where was the “seed” that started the explosion, before the explosion itself. Scientists have tried to minimize the problem by implying that: Before the big-bang, all of the matter in the Universe was super-compressed in-itself. They tell us it was as big as a grain of sand. To be honest, compress it as much as you like – I still have a hard time believing that our Universe was at one time as small as a grain of sand. Let’s assume however (for argument’s sake) that the whole Universe was indeed at one time as small as a grain of sand, the problem still remains. Specifically: where was the “grain of sand” before space was created.
2) AS WE ALL KNOW, AN EXPLOSION CAN ONLY BE CAUSED IN ONE OF TWO WAYS. ONE, SOMEONE SETS IT OFF – TWO, SOMETHING SETS IT OFF. BE CHEMICAL, NATURAL, SUPERHEATING AND SO ON. THE TWO PRONGED QUESTION IS THEREFORE: WHO OR WHAT PROCESS SET OFF THE BIG-BANG IN THE FIRST PLACE – AND AGAIN, “WHERE” WAS THE CREATOR OR THE PROCESS ITSELF BEFORE THE BIG-BANG, IF SPACE DID NOT EXIST YET?
3) IF THE BIG-BANG “BANGED” SPONTANEOUSLY – WITHOUT ANY “INTELLIGENT” INTERVENTION, WHERE DID “INTELLIGENCE” COME FROM ?
4) CAN WE GIVE GOD (S.W.T.) CREDIT FOR THE BIG BANG – OR IS PERHAPS GOD (S.W.T.) AND THE BIG-BANG ONE AND THE SAME?
5) WHAT IS GRAVITY, WHAT IS SPACE, AND WHAT IS TIME ?
6) ARE WE ALONE IN THE UNIVERSE ?
7) IF GOD (S.W.T.) CREATED THE BIG-BANG, THUS THE UNIVERSE JUST FOR US, WHY WOULD HE CREATE SUCH AN ENORMOUS UNIVERSE CONTAINING TRILLIONS UPON TRILLIONS OF PLANETS, STARS AND SO ON – IF ALL THAT WE HUMANS APPEAR TO NEED IN ORDER TO SUSTAIN LIFE ON OUR EARTH, THE SUN AND PERHAPS THE MOON – THEN, WHY WOULD GOD (S.W.T.) CREATE ALL THE OTHER TRILLIONS OF CELESTIAL BODIES FOR? DECORATING PURPOSES PERHAPS?
Let’s pause and examine this point for a moment. The above questions I think you would agree are of a very profound and justifiable nature indeed, when you really put some effort into trying to understand this whole subject, you realize that even the above questions although of enormous importance and implications, pale in comparison with the even bigger questions they bring to the surface as a result of asking them in the first place.
Whether you choose to believe the scientific or religious version (Big-Bang VS. Creation) many so called unsolved mysteries remain just that “unsolved”. These are the phenomena that have eluded us for hundreds if not thousands of years.
CREATION (both Biblical and Evolutionary ), THE BIG-BANG, LIFE (purpose of), LIFE AFTER DEATH, REINCARNATION, SPIRITS AND GHOSTS, OTHER PROBABLE LEVELS OF EXISTENCE, E.S.P., O.B.E., ASTRAL PROJECTION, BI-LOCATION, CLAIRVOYANCE, UFO and E.T.s, CROP CIRCLES, TIME/SPACE/GRAVITY, MATTER vs. ENERGY, just to name a few.
What I came to realize, years ago, was that we are basically dead in the water with any one of these so called “higher questions”, so, how are we going to try and explain all of them if we can’t even start explaining any single one of them.
There must be something else we are missing. There must be a common denominator. Not only these topics MUST all share a COMMON SEED, but they must be ONE-AND-THE-SAME, or better yet “DIFFERENT MANIFESTATIONS OF THE SAME THING”
If that wasn’t the case, if we had to address all of these un-answered dilemmas one at a time, and they turned out to be unrelated to each other, it would take us literally for ever to make any sense of them if ever.
Now, it seems to me that the logical thing to do, if we wanted to attempt to get to the root issue and find a possible common denominator would be to go as far back as possible and find a possible shared origin. Then build from there.
The scientific “as far back as possible,” today, translates in to The Big-Bang theory.
Let’s therefore, take a look at this fascinating subject called The Big-Bang and let’s see based on what’s officially accepted, how far we can take it.
For now, for the sake of the argument, we will assume that the Big-Bang theory is in fact correct. Let me assure you, that it is not, but let’s give it a chance nevertheless.
Unfortunately, the name itself is inaccurate to start with. The first thing that a “Bang” implies is of course an “explosion” of some sort, and a big one too. That misconception alone, throws anyone who attempts to shine some light on the subject inevitably off track, at the very start.
As we will see later, there never was a “Bang”, but for now, let’s assume there was one.
We start with an unimaginable amount of mass – all of the Galaxies, stars, planets and so on super-compressed (no-one knows why) into a super-small “point” our scientists like to call “a grain of sand”. For some reason (again no-one knows the reason) it all of a sudden explodes in a singularity of unimaginable force. Bang – and voila` it became our Universe, with all of the matter, Galaxies, planets and so on.
Let’s assume the above is correct and run with it.
An enormous amount of Energy was released at that specific point in time (what time if “time” did not yet exist?). This enormous amount of energy and matter started its journey – travelling away from the “eye” of the explosion, progressively cooling down as it travelled farther. Eventually coagulating, forming rudimentary shapes of matter, which in turn cooled off even more to eventually (ions later) form a countless number of celestial “fragments” – our planet Earth is of course one of those fragments.
Initially, due to the tremendous heat, our planet must have been almost a molten-liquid state. The enormous heat and vapor emanating from its surface due to the cooling down process formed a thick mantel of cloud/vapor around the planet.
As these hot clouds came into contact with the cooler surrounding space they became heavy with condensation – they started to release rain. As the rain came down on the super hot planet even more condensation was released, which in turn formed more clouds, which in turn caused more rain to fall on the planet, and so on.
The above is of course a very simplified version of the Heat-Vapor-Condensation-Rain cycle which after a somewhat “stabilizing phase” continued and still continues today.
Now, a certain type of environment will allow for a certain type of “development” to take place. It’s very important that we understand this very point however, specifically the enormous implications and the difference between our “Environment being made for us” and “us being the only possible way our environment allows us to be”, is of paramount importance.
The air that is so vital for our own very survival, was not “custom made” to suit our lungs. Our lungs had no choice but to “adapt” to it instead.
According to the theory of evolution, many millions of years ago the very first micro-organisms formed in the seas, where in the ever perpetual quest for self preservation, they continuously developed in to more complex and larger living beings. In their never ending search for food, they started exploring new places. Some of them, even ventured out of the water, accordingly, these first micro-organisms or Amoeba, developed into everything that is alive today, including us humans.
Now, I ask you to go back and re-read the above paragraph you just read. I ask you to pay special attention to the “exploring new places” sentence. Here is why.
In order for even a microorganism to “feel” the need to survive, and embark in any however short journey to find food and sustainment – it must be intelligent!
It must have a built-in self preservation mechanism which makes it “reason” and say: “wait just a minute here, I must survive, I must find food and fast, otherwise I will dwindle and disappear into nothing, or perhaps end up eaten by my bigger neighbor living under the rock to my right”.
If everything, even microscopically small bacteria is doing this type of thinking, then it must already possess an “intelligence” of some sort. A Soul perhaps?
Would you say that the Soul entered the living organism once the Amoeba became developed enough to walk about – or do you think it waited until the micro-organism developed into a Human. Could there be a small possibility that the Soul or at least intelligent awareness was already a part of every atom that ever existed and will ever exist, one and the same perhaps?
I would say that based on these facts “Soul always precedes Matter”, not the other way around. Soul is the force that reasons and thinks – while matter is the “vehicle” that allows the Soul to express and materialize these thoughts into the physical world.
Matter by itself couldn’t even exist as a simple stone on the ground, for even the stone is made out of self-aware atoms.
Or as Seth likes to say:
“Nature without nature’s source could not exist even for a moment”.
There is no exception to this rule.
There is simply no possible way that a chance combining of some chemical elements could under any circumstances – produce consciousness or the conditions necessary that would give birth to consciousness.
Seth describes this in this fashion: “The myth of the great chance encounter that is supposed to have brought forth life on your planet then presupposes, of course, an individual consciousness that is, in certain terms alive by chance alone. It is somewhat humorous that such a vital consciousness could even suppose itself to be the end product of inert elements that were themselves lifeless – but somehow managed to combine in such a way that your species attained fantasy, logic, vast organizational power, technologies, and civilizations”.
Let’s continue on our journey however, observing how our primordial Amoeba became a human being and see where it takes us from there. Let’s leave the “Soul” argument aside for now. We will cover the “Soul” subject in much more detail later in the book, let’s us continue pretending (again) for the time being, that we do not care about “who” built the foundation of the house and continue building floor upon floor on it.
Countless volumes exist on the subject of evolution of course, for our purpose here, we need not re-write what has already been written, let’s simply adopt it as valid and continue on our journey.
What we are trying to understand is “where” did the beliefs we adopt as true today came from. How did they develop into what we have today – both scientific, and religious alike.
Many millions of years have gone by since the appearance of those first micro-organisms, lets us now take a big leap forward and arrive to the point in history when our ancestors walked the land, the “cave man.”
So here you are, one of the first humanoids to crawl on the surface of the planet. Your existence is a continuous struggle for survival.
You have no possessions other than a spear you fashioned from a wooden stick and a few sharp rocks you shaped into cutting tools. Your home is a hole in a rock. You have to continuously kill to survive, or be killed. Volcanoes erupt all around you, the ground shakes continuously. The sky is on fire, thunder and lightning everywhere, it’s a scary environment indeed, very scary.
You witness and experience nature’s rage first hand, you are in the middle of it, it is taking place right before your very own eyes – and you have no idea “what” is causing it. One thing you know for sure, it’s not you.
All of that enormous force pouring down on you, making your existence a very miserable one, your life in a constant state of danger, you do not know if you will be alive a minute from now. You have no idea of course that it is simply Mother Nature at work, you are very scared.
You are not developed enough to know that these are simple natural phenomena; you cannot possibly reason with yourself to understand the invisible wind. The rain seems to come down from the sky for no reason at all. You know nothing about nature’s cycles or creation, destruction and re-generation, you only believe in what you see and touch. You know for instance that fire is hot, because you burned yourself a few times.
As far as you can see, only four types of “things” exist on the land around you: humans like you, animals, plants and rocks. Rocks are just there, plants grow and get bigger, but they cannot walk around or harm you, then it must be animals, or one of your kind.
Animals you reason, can be big, strong and dangerous, but you have learnt to outwit them just about every time. By using your brain you are able to have the upper hand and it usually ends up with you eating them – not the other way around.
There could be no doubt then – it must be a person. Could it be a woman? Probably not, because men are physically stronger than women.
But if this “man” is able to throw all this water, rocks and fire from the sky – then, he must be doing so from somewhere up there. If he is up there, he must therefore be able to fly. If this “flying man” is so powerful that he can burn down entire forests, change entire landscapes in minutes, literally make mountains appear from the ground with a strange force that makes everything around your tremble – if he can do whatever he wants, whenever he wants, then, he must no doubt be the one who “owns” all of it. If he owns builds and destroys everything and anything he likes. He must be the “maker” of everything.
How powerful can this “man” be, you ask yourself? He must be the “master and creator of all, including us”.
You may have noticed that the master allows you to kill other animals which are also owned by him, perhaps, he likes your kind, over everything else? He reminds you constantly however, that he is the boss. Many of your companions have been killed by him. You have seen them die before your very eyes. They must have disobeyed him somehow – you’d better behave or else.
Centuries and millennia go by, you are constantly being reminded of “who is the master”. The first thing you teach your children is to respect and above all fear the master.
You teach them everything you know. Your children grow up following your example. They are going to have children, and they are going to teach them everything they know.
Millennia upon millennia go by. You are much more “evolved” now. You have tools to make your life easier, you have even invented the wheel – you got the idea from the tree rolling down the hill the other day. You have learned, (the Master permitting) to use and control fire – you don’t have to eat your meat raw anymore. The Master has even allowed you to domesticate some of His animals. You no longer need to go out and risk your life everyday to feed your family, you now have cows, horses, chickens, pigs, and all that, thanks to the Master. But wait, does the Master have a name? What should we call Him.
It will have to be a special name that speaks of His magnificence, a powerful name.
And so if you happened to live in Greece you call him Zeus, your Roman archenemies call him Deus, if you are a American or Australian Native you will call him The Great Spirit. On the eastern side of the planet he will be called Buddha, Shinto, Confucius, Krishna, just to name few.
You now live in a shack instead of a cave in a mountain. You can communicate with others, you trade objects and foods. You start exploring new lands, you start importing and exporting goods. You’re unknowingly inventing the very first rudimentary form of commerce.
Some saw the opportunity to become richer than the rest, some used their bargaining and business abilities, while some decided to use trickery and manipulation instead. Greediness was paying its dividends. They realized that they could freely take advantage of others, cheat, steal and to their surprise – God (S.W.T.) was not vaporizing them.
They wondered why was He not intervening. Could it be that He is busy somewhere else? If “He” not seeing what we are doing they reasoned – perhaps they could capitalize on that too. Exploitation of their fellow human’s innate fear of God (S.W.T.).
And so they devised strategies, they proclaimed themselves to be the representatives, the messengers of God (S.W.T.) – constantly reminding people of the consequences if they went astray.
Slowly, folks began to believe that these charlatans knew what they were talking about. They seemed to have all the answers after all, and if they did not – they would reply that you were not supposed to know that particular answer or that “the ways of the Lord were infinite”.
Because of the natural need to feel at least somewhat protected from what they could not understand, people became accustomed to – they even welcomed this sort of arrangement. A indirect relationship with God (S.W.T.), via a representative who claimed to be in contact with God (S.W.T.).
They welcomed the idea that they could do whatever they wanted all weeklong, to then attend a service once a week where they paid a little money or gave a chicken, and voila`- all of their sins instantly washed away as if nothing had happened. How much easier could it be?
The preachers made sure of course – they constantly reminded them that they owed everything including their lives to God (S.W.T.). Do not even think about angering Him, show your gratitude instead, keep on bringing money, livestock, fruit (they preferred non-perishables) anything you can to “God (S.W.T.)”. You are nothing more than a “worthless sinner”, they reminded them.
Folks became accustomed to “donate,” it became a sort of competition with your friends and relatives even, “how much did you donate this week” they asked each other. All sorts of goods started accumulating in the back rooms and warehouses. Gold, jewelry, food, livestock, all set aside for – you guessed it God (S.W.T.).
In their defense, the preachers did want to ship all of these goods to God (S.W.T.) but, they did not have an address where to send them to. They had no choice then but to simply store everything for the time being, to give them to God (S.W.T.) later, eventually.
The problem was (I assume), decades went by even centuries and God (S.W.T.) was not coming to collect his goods. So they had a great idea. What if, we start investing some of this money, gold etc, so that when God (S.W.T.) finally does come and collect He will find even more.
They devised a system and proceeded to build a whole enterprise, complete with laws, rules, consequences and so on. A system where no one, even the Government of the day could neither question or deny, for if they did – they were messing with God (S.W.T.).
They came up with the idea of creating an organization – basically untouchable and non-adherent to the normal rules and laws other enterprises have to abide by.
The Non-For-Profit Organization is by Wikipedia definition described as follows:
“Nonprofit organization (abbreviated as NPO) is neither a legal nor technical definition but generally refers to an organization that uses surplus revenues to achieve its goals, rather than distributing them as profit or dividends. While Not-for-profit organizations are permitted to generate surplus revenues they must be retained by the organization for its self-preservation, expansion, or plans. NPOs have controlling members or boards. Many have paid staff including management, while others employ unpaid volunteers and even executives who work without compensation”.
How clever of them – not only could they accumulate as much as they liked, but they could also not be questioned or challenged in any way. Many folks even offered their help for no compensation whatsoever, collecting, sorting and so on the goods for the organization. They were called “volunteers”.
What started with a simple dozen eggs donation here and there, grew centuries later into huge fortunes. Enormous amounts of real estate, gold, jewels, money, valuables of all types. It had become a powerful fully flagged business and even though centuries later God (S.W.T.) hadn’t collected his goods yet – no one could nor was willing to stop the process – especially those who were living the dolce-vita out of it.
Now, I am not in any position to say that the above little “story” is the actual way it happened – your guess is as good as mine. But I think you would agree however, that it does not take a rocket scientist to look at the facts and envision something similar taking place.
Isn’t this exact scenario still being played on us today? Don’t we still go on all week thinking that all we have to do is donate some money on the weekend so that we can start all over again on Monday morning? Aren’t we still called by our preachers “worthless sinners”? Don’t we still believe that “they” are representatives of God (S.W.T.) and that they act in His interest and by His will?
All you have to do, is look at the Vatican today. You will see that the above little story, is not that far-off after all.
You are intelligent enough to see that not much has changed since the prehistoric times. Religions today have become huge institutions. Big businesses with big power. Have a big influence over everything. They play a major role in just about everything – influencing decisions with worldwide consequences. Even the presidents of the most powerful nations on earth, will consult with heads of religions before making important decisions. And, it is all done in the name of God (S.W.T.). By the way, they are still putting things aside for Him.
Now, I hope I am not sounding like I want to criticize religions. I am simply trying to understand the present state of affairs via a little excursion into our past. An opportunity to understand the roles religion played throughout the course of history. Trying to understand how and why religions were introduced in the first place and why do we actually “need” them. For we have to realize that although misused and in most cases abused, “religions” where and still are today an absolute “necessity”.
It would be virtually impossible for us to go on with our daily lives, if we didn’t have something to believe in. Without some sort of “guidance”, we would be too scared to even cross to the other side of the street. Believing in something – takes a big weight off our shoulders. We need not worry about “who we are” for instance, who made us, where we came from and so on, because that is simply “too complicated a subject for us to worry about.
We choose to close the proverbial “one eye” then, and pretend we don’t see what’s really going on. We prefer living with our heads in the sand – willing to pay money even, so that someone else takes care of the problem for us. Isn’t it not our scientists and religious leaders’ job to answer the questions anyways we think? All we have to do (we’re told), is to be of good behavior, pay our dues and let someone else worry about making some sense out of the whole issue.
Now, you might have noticed how this whole approach has remained unchanged for millennia. Think about it, on one hand we have supercomputers, space shuttles, nanotechnology and animal cloning, while on the other we are still believing “fables” that were basically made up thousands of years ago.
Are you starting to see how the formation and adoption of our present set of believes, was not only probable but also to be expected?
One of the things I find quite interesting, is that if you were to ask someone (anyone) which God (S.W.T.), does he or she think is the real one – they would most certainly answer: the one I believe in of course.
I was watching Opera on TV one evening, the topic was “religions”. Opera made an interesting remark which clearly shows that some folks are starting to “wake-up” indeed. Opera said something like “..what about the native aborigines somewhere in the middle of an Australian forest – who have never had any contact with the west, our religious beliefs, television, newspapers and so on. Are they considered “sinners” if they do not believe in, nor are they even aware of the same God (S.W.T.) as we are?”
The audience almost revolted against her. One woman in particular got very enraged and started calling Opera a sinner herself. She said something like “of course they are sinners, if you do not believe that you can be saved by our Lord Jesus, then you are a sinner – no matter where you are on Earth and whether you are aware of Him or not”. Opera, being the extremely intelligent person that she is of course, realized that it was time to drop the subject, so she did.
Remember that there are, and have been literally thousands of religions throughout history, each with their devoted believers of course. Each of these groups were and still are convinced that their particular belief is the only “real one” – while all others are not of course.
Millions of lives have been lost in the various attempts to propagate or even defend religious beliefs. The number of human beings negatively affected by this “misunderstanding” is in the billions.
The many attempts to find a solution to this enormous dilemma have all failed miserably, while at the same time we seem unable to put “magic” aside – and take a logical approach to this issue.
Let’s try for the sake of the discussion, to pinpoint the possible scenarios available to us. Let’s take a practical approach and examine the alternatives to then consider the possible reasons for each scenario.
Scenario 1) There are many real gods.
This scenario would imply that there are many gods. Some could be imagined – while some could be real. Just like their followers, these gods would be competing with others for followers as well as for territory. They each control their own land and airspace and avoid running into each other. This scenario also implies of course that at least one of them, or another being superior to them had to create the rest of the others at some point. Each of these beings proclaiming all along that they are the only real one of course
Scenario 2) There are no real gods.
This scenario supposes that there is no God (S.W.T.) at all and that all this controversy has been over nothing. We are then left with absolutely no explanation why so many similar religious beliefs formed in societies completely isolated from each other.
Scenario 3) There is one real God (S.W.T.) and many false gods.
This scenario proposes that only one of the gods is real while all others are false. It also implies that the real God (S.W.T.) has had to choose a “chosen people” as his followers. This would be fine for those lucky chosen people who happened to be liked by the real God (S.W.T.), but for all others it causes some very serious problems.
If that would be the case, everyone else then would have worshipped false gods, no matter how big the “lucky” group is, the number of “wrong” worshippers would be in the billions. For starters you would need to figure out if you are the one group who is actually worshipping the “real” God (S.W.T.); in addition, should you happen to belong to one of the false gods groups you would be in serious trouble. You would have to explain why you spent all that time and effort worshipping a false deity while at the same time denying the real one.
Scenario 4) There is only one real God (S.W.T.) being described in different ways, by many different peoples.
This scenario proposes that all of the gods that have been worshipped throughout history are actually different interpretations of one and the same and only Supreme God (S.W.T.). This concept would imply that everyone has been deceived until now. If this was the case, we would all be safe however, since as most religions say we would all be deceived by some evil force of some sort. In addition (as most religions maintain) whichever God (S.W.T.) you would have happened to have worshipped would have allowed the deception to continue. Since everybody was being deceived, nobody is faulted.
This last concept is the only one that seems to follow logic and puts religious diversity in a realistic perspective. It fits the universal accepted model of a loving – all powerful God (S.W.T.) that created the whole Universe.
Now, It does not take a genius to see that the first three alternatives simply could not be considered. The only plausible one is the last one that seems to support some sort of logical possibility.
The final alternative seems to support logic, and fits into the model of a loving and fair God (S.W.T.). It is, also, the only one that bodes well for all mankind. It does not argue the differences in the many religions, but recognizes the similarities. It does not condemn the differences, it explains them. It does not exclude any, but includes all. And, it is the only scenario that would explain a mass deception of mankind.
How could this be possible you ask? Who or what could be deceiving us all?
Now. What we have attempted to do up to this point in the book, is to try and understand our present “illogical” status quo and how we managed to get to this point in the first place. We have looked at different possibilities and plausible scenarios which may have contributed to this big misunderstanding we are left to deal with. Let’s then try and make some sense of it.
I have no way of knowing where you stand on these issues. All we have attempted to do up to this point is to open our eyes and mind so-to-speak. In any case, we should be able to realize by now, that the “religious” version of “ALL THAT IS” simply does not add up.
On the other hand, the best to date scientific version, the Big-bang, does not (as we have seen earlier in the book) give us a definite and complete answer either.
There must be some other way – a somehow unseen explanation, which could not only explain the origins of the Universe, but also manage to re-conciliate religious as well as scientific versions at the same time.
This new “explanation” should (to be truly believable) also explain many other issues which do not fit into religion or science.
Believe me when I say that I am aware of the “size” and implications of this task. Our scientists and theologians have been trying to find an answer for centuries to no avail.
This is a huge task indeed. In fact many times larger than the Universe itself. You would be surprised at how simple it is however once you grasp the concept. We need to find the common thread that has seeded everything, and it all will make sense.
There will always be the skeptics of course; those who will never agree with anything no matter what proof you give them. Some people have simply decided to be “skeptics” as a way of life. They consider it to be their “job.” to disagree. As a friend of mine stated once “no proof is necessary to those who want to believe and no proof will ever be sufficient to those who do not want to believe”.
But what about our scientists you may say. If you really stop and think about it for a moment, they do not seem to be helping much either. Of course there are exceptions like in everything else, unfortunately however our scientists are in most cases the very individuals who slow things down instead of helping us progress faster. Even this very fact has a purpose however.
Let me explain. Most, if not all of the great things we enjoy today, have not come from “conventional” scientists.
I am talking for instance about our television, radio, telephones, airplanes, the electric motor, the automobile, just to name a few, as well as many medical discoveries too.
These inventions and discoveries have all come and continue to come from the minds of “inventors.” Geniuses, who in most cases made the discovery, even before they ever became involved in any form of science. These are people who work in their basements, often using the most basic of tools. Often having no funds to support themselves, nor big institutions or governments to fund their ideas.
I am talking about people like Leonardo Da Vinci, Galileo, Einstein, Newton, Marconi, Volta, Edison, Emerson, Benz, Westinghouse, Tesla, Ford, Zuse, just to name a few.
These are individuals of great courage, who repeatedly put everything they own on the line, including their own lives sometimes, to see their dreams realized. They have a vision.
They could “see” things before they existed. They were persistent, unstoppable, they were the true scientists. They were fought (by the scientific community) every step of the way. They were called crazy, visionaries, possessed. They encountered opposition as soon as they even mentioned a new idea. Their ideas were almost always delayed, sometimes by decades or even centuries. In some cases, they were not able to “see” their ideas realized, until after their own death.
Why you might ask? This will have to be a two pronged answer. First, because most of our scientists are only there to merely receive a pay check at month end. They received their accreditation from some university or college and they are simply comfortable with merely looking at their diplomas and certificates on their office wall. They detest changes, new ideas. They fear new discoveries because they can make their jobs obsolete overnight.
One quite famous and descriptive event, which clearly illustrates the above took place in the early thirties at the Arrow automobile plant in the United States.
Nikola Tesla inventor of the widely used AC motor, as well as countless other very useful inventions, had figured out a way to “produce” electrical current by virtually drawing it out from the air around us. He had somehow understood back then a principle which our scientists have trouble with even today. That principle is, that our Universe is nothing more than a huge ball of Electromagnetic plasma. Everything is made of electricity, everything works by electricity, everything “IS” electricity, including the air that surrounds us.
Tesla proposed a demonstration. He gathered the media as well as scientists at the Arrow Automobile Works factory. The factory donated a brand new car for the experiment. The stock gas engine was removed from the car, and an electric motor was connected to the transmission in its place. At a local radio shop Tesla purchased 12 vacuum tubes, two metal rods and assorted wiring. He assembled them in a wooden box. He sat the box on the passenger seat, and he ran two wires from the box to the electric motor in the engine compartment.
He went on driving that car on a closed circuit, for seven consecutive days, often at speeds up to 90 miles per hour. Remember that he did this without using any fuel or propellants whatsoever. Somehow, the box he built, was able to absorb electricity from the surrounding air and amplify and/or convert it, to feed the electric motor in the car.
After the experiment concluded Tesla was very disappointed to read all sorts of negative and unfounded accusations in the newspapers of the time. He was accused of all sorts of trickery, including witchcraft.
Disappointed, realizing that we were obviously not yet ready for that sort of technology, he completely destroyed every record of the project, taking his secret to the grave with him.
Just think how different our lives, and our planet would be today, if we all had a “Tesla box” in our cars, in our homes, and everywhere else electric power is needed.
You all have heard of Leonardo Da Vinci I am sure. Vinci is a little town of only a few hundred people in the Florentine region in Italy only a few kilometers from where I lived. I have been in his house (now a museum) many times. For those who may be wondering, Da Vinci means in Italian “From Vinci”, as before surnames were invented folks where called by their first name and the place they were “from”.
Although Leonardo lived there several centuries ago, the small town still talks proudly about him. And, one of the passed down most mentioned stories in regards to the great inventor, goes on saying that whenever Leonardo was struck by a new idea, he would go to the local tavern and discuss it with as many people as possible before he did anything with it.
In other words, he used the tavern as a sort of “test market,” only in this case, a “reverse” test market. Let me explain. He was convinced, and rightly so, that most people react instinctively to a new idea – even before they understand what the idea itself is.
He was also convinced, that only a small minority of people can “see” things clearly, for what they really are, without being influenced in his or her decision by any personal convictions or circumstantial factors. Therefore, if the majority of people he shared his idea with would react negatively, he would go back to his lab and start working on it. On the other hand, if the majority of people said it was a good idea instead, he would immediately scrap the project altogether.
Good or bad method, you be the judge. The fact remains that Leonardo was the greatest inventor that ever lived.
The point that I am trying to make here is that all the great inventors in history had to fight tooth-and-nail with the masses, and above all, against their fellow scientists before they could bring their ideas to fruition.
Imagine how frustrating it would be to have an idea you know would greatly benefit mankind, but you cannot implement it until you make others understand it so that they can give you their blessing, permission and in most cases funding. Not only are you trying to elevate their knowledge to your level but to make it more difficult, they fight you every step of the way. They call you crazy simply because they are not able to understand what you understand. Imagine the fun.
I believe however that this is also “by design”. True inventors and geniuses are just a different breed. They are risk takers, they usually do not sleep much at night, they are dreamers and visionaries, they are children at heart. They do not think twice, they act out of impetus, a gut feeling. If wasn’t for the rest of the scientific community putting the so called “brakes” on them, we would’ve probably been blown up to smithereens many times over. I believe the two sides need each other. The inventors to invent – the rest to slow them down and keep them on track.
